Leadership

What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.

This morning, I've truly been thinking about this quote, and it sparks in me an idea or a concept I've been chewing on lately, which is, what are the men doing?

When we think about the leadership, there are a few particular places in the world that are in upheaval right now and one must ask themselves “why”.

The question is always why, for me. How is easy, when, who… but why?

And when I question the motives and or actions taken, I face every single time the same wall, which is “the ego” and the desire to be remembered, to be engraved, to have monuments.

A very particular person of power right now loves to have statues erected of himself. And other men are destroying entire countries. And whether one believes they are engaged in a “Holy War” …

We have to ask why … And I believe that men of control, leaders of power, they're not looking with hundred-year sight.

Because hundred-year sight is what we weave into the lives of others. How have we helped humanity? What have we done to uplift?

It is easy to try and make your mark on this world doing harm for so many would rather live in infamy than to never be remembered at all.

But if you're truly looking, seeing the world and yourself in it, it is with hundred-year sight. It is planting a tree you'll never sit under. And when I think of the world, leadership, power, control, the pieces that make up the puzzle which is our globe; it is that leadership, the desire to be engraved, the desire to be remembered, the desire, the desire… And yet, in that desire for infamy, to be remembered, to have shaped the world with your own hand, they do not realize that the world is made up of others.

And it is easy to crush, and it is far harder to care.

So the true hero who desires to live forever in the eyes and minds of others is that which cares. It's harder to care. And thus, when you do what is hard, and if you have the power to make it look easy, it will be remembered.

My meditations are if they could only shift their minds from crushing to curing, and what would it take? What would it take, for those who have the power to change the world, to not live for monuments, but moments for others.
